Buy & Sell / Important Information Before Buying or Selling From This Site

Important Notice

When placing or responding to adverts be aware that anyone on the internet can place or respond to adverts here. Most people are honest and reliable - but not all people. While very few transactions go wrong, you should always ensure that you are dealing safely before parting with goods or money. One way of doing this may be to arrange to meet in a safe public location to complete your deal in person. If doing this you should take appropriate precautions about your personal safety. People placing wanted ads should consider asking prospective sellers to e-mail a photograph of the goods in such a way that a stock photograph off the internet cannot be used. Please be especially wary of e-mails from potential overseas buyers or vendors.

Paypal gift payments sometimes called "Friends and Family" should be avoided by buyers as you have very few rights for payments made in this way. Also such payments will be outwith Paypal's terms of service for the seller.

If things go wrong you can use the "Small Claims Court" online process. It is cheap, easy and very effective. The fee is added to the claim so if the Court finds in your favour it costs nothing. Filing a claim takes around half an hour and the whole process is handled by the court - you do nothing else. https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money

This website's administrator offers no seller or buyer protection of any sort. If that is what you require, you should restrict your dealings to buying new or warrantied second-hand equipment from the main radio dealers.

The Amateur Licence now requires all amateurs to check compliance with EMF exposure limits. Compliance Checks are required after 18 November 2021 for frequencies above 110MHz, after 18 May 2022 for frequencies above 10MHz but below 110MHz, after 18 November 2022 for frequencies below 10MHz.

A video explaining how to complete the EMF calculator

RSGB/Ofcom calculator (356 KB MS-Excel Worksheet v.rsgb11c) to calculate your EIRP from practical station parameters—incorporating the Ofcom spreadsheet. This now includes specific advice for VHF beams. We still plan to provide a web based version which does not require use of a spreadsheet. This calculator will be updated later to use exposure limits based on ICNIRP 2020 reference levels and will incorporate more antennas

The Excel Calculator document can be downloaded here. https://rsgb.services/public/publications/emc/emf-calculator-v0.1.2-rsgb11c.xlsx

I have now finally chosen the server to be used, it's been an interesting journey experimenting with all the different types of servers available. But the de-Boer system is the one that everyone seems to like the best, so we're sticking with that.  :)

Thank you to everyone that has helped with testing and reporting issues to improve the performances across all the servers used.
